Who we are
Picou Group Contractors
From a garage startup in 2012 to an industrial contracting partner serving work across the Gulf Coast and as far as Canada.
Before Picou Group became the robust family-owned business we are today, Keith and Cheryl Picou started the company in their garage in 2012. They founded Picou Group with only a handful of employees at their side and a strong ethos of hard work and integrity. With Keith’s engineering degree and Cheryl’s business leadership, they began to create their own path toward success.
Our first clients, Louisiana Sugar Refining in St. James Parish and Domino Sugar in Chalmette, quickly recognized the quality of our engineering work and industrial contracting services. Equally as important, each refinery discovered Picou Group as a partner dedicated to building strong, lasting relationships. These first two clients set the tone for our company’s reputation and growth. We would soon earn the confidence of industries including agriculture, food and beverage, chemical, and oil and gas.
As demand for our precision craftsmanship and efficient project execution grew, so did our company. By 2018, our business was thriving. We expanded our capabilities while staying true to our core values. Even during the challenges of the COVID pandemic, we stood by our people, ensuring every employee retained their job. This emphasis on loyalty and respect is reflected in Picou Group’s exceptionally high employee-retention rate and the personal care characteristic of a small family business.
In 2021, Keith and Cheryl’s two sons, Keith Jr. and Bryan, joined the team. They brought expertise in Mechanical Engineering, Business, and Health, Safety & Environment. The family’s expanded involvement helped broaden Picou Group’s reach, and our current projects now extend as far as Canada. Through this growth, the family remains grounded, guided by the principles we have held since our company’s humble beginnings.
Beyond the jobsite, we are proud to contribute to the communities that have supported our growth. Through ongoing involvement with organizations such as the Special Olympics and United Way of Southeast Louisiana, we invest in the well-being of the region we call home. From our start in that small garage, we have put our trust in God, both in business and in life. We believe it is important to give back in thanks for all He has given us.
